Vibrant street festival at 2025 Northwest Quintessence Festival - Điện Biên

ĐBP - On the evening of September 20, the Street Festival - one of the highlights of the 2025 Northwest Quintessence Festival - Điện Biên - took place along Võ Nguyên Giáp Street, stretching from the Victory Monument Ceremony Square to Vincom Trade Center.

Attending the event were Trần Quốc Cường, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Lê Thành Đô, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; members of the Standing Board and Executive Board of the provincial Party Committee; together with international friends from Algeria and Laos.

The program began with the ceremonial opening and an art performance featuring special music and dance that praised the beauty of Northwest nature and people. Songs such as “Lời mời Điện Biên” (Invitation to Điện Biên), “Người đẹp Mường Then” (The Beauty of Mường Then), “Về trong ngày hội” (Return to the Festival), and “Rạng ngời Điện Biên” (Radiant Điện Biên) were staged elaborately, bringing a solemn yet lively and captivating atmosphere that stirred pride in the Northwest among audiences.

Immediately after, tens of thousands of locals and visitors flocked to both sides of Võ Nguyên Giáp Street to await the street parade. Performance blocks were arranged by themes and regions, taking the audience on a colorful journey through Northwest culture, national solidarity, and international friendship. As the opening drumbeats resounded, the street burst with cheers and applause. Brilliantly decorated blocks appeared in turn: the soft Thái xòe dance, the vibrant Mông khèn dance, the joyful Lao Xao Xiêng Khoảng, and the vigorous Hà Nhì conical-hat dance.

The opening community folk dance featured performers from Điện Biên in áo dài, red shirts with yellow stars, and traditional costumes of the Mông, Thái, Khơ Mú, and Lao ethnic groups. Against lively music, the blocks created a radiant festive atmosphere that drew audiences to join in.

The Mông khèn dance, with its powerful yet flexible movements full of spirit, earned prolonged applause. The Lao parade block with its cheerful Xao Xiêng Khoảng also left a deep impression.

The festival concluded with mass xòe and traditional sạp dances, joined by delegates, artisans, and visitors. Long connected lines of hands, hearty laughter, and the sounds of drums, khèn, and gongs transformed the space into a “symphony” of unity, exchange, and integration.

The Street Festival, as part of the 2025 Northwest Quintessence Festival - Điện Biên, truly delivered a unique artistic experience, affirming Điện Biên as a cultural destination ready to welcome visitors from near and far.
